ABOUT THE AUTHOR…

Dori Hammer lives in Bainbridge, Pennsylvania, with her husband of sixteen years, their three children: Huntley, Callie, and Emma, and their poodle-pug dog named T.

Dori is currently a high school business teacher. During summer break, Dori helps her brother at his farm’s roadside stand in Middletown, Pennsylvania.  She works at the road stand and does the social media posts for the business, Red Hill Farm Market.

Dori’s childhood summers spent on the fruit and vegetable farm were used as inspiration for the book.  Dori wanted a metal detector as a child, but the cost prohibited her from getting one. However, once her son was old enough to use one, she bought one for him as a Christmas gift since they were now more reasonably priced.  Her son used it a lot and dug many holes throughout their yard, searching for treasure.  While he has yet to find something worth a lot of money or of historical value, he simply enjoys using the metal detector and getting outside with it to explore.  Huntley’s love of metal detecting seemed like a unique element to bring into the first book of the Lost and Found from Underground series.
